Chelsea Seignous, former Miss Lake Placid, recently won a national pageant competition and was named Miss Teen U.S. Continental, in Salt Lake City.
The daughter of local business owners Tracy and Scott Seignous of Lake Placid - both parents attended the Utah pageant - is the previous winner of Miss Teen Florida U.S. Continental.
The champion will focus on promoting reading, said her mother, on Tuesday.
Seignous won a scholarship to Nova Southeastern University and is pursuing an advertising and communications degree.
She first entered a July 4 contest as a young girl.
