Was There A Shooting Or Not?

Police Investigate Conflicting Reports

SEBRING - Sebring police were getting conflicting information on what may or may not have happened at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lemon Street Tuesday, according to Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr.
Or was it Virginia Street and Lemon Street?

A lot depended on who police investigators talked to regarding the incident when police received a call of shots being fired in the area at about 11:10 a.m.

The reporting person said he heard gunshots coming from several directions, which could have been an echo, Carr said.

A witness reported seeing a male subject running up the street, but police are not certain if he was involved in the reported shooting.

"There are eight different stories," Carr said slightly exaggerating. "The water is kind of muddy right now. No one saw anyone with a gun in their hand. No one was shot."

Some reported the (intended) victim had a gun, some are saying a suspect had a gun.
"People are saying they were there, who weren't and people who were there are saying they weren't," Carr said. "We have a victim depending on who you talk to."

Four Sebring police officers and two Highlands County sheriff's deputies answered the call.
