Universal Health Care

»  Comments | Post a Comment

My heart truly goes out to Ginette Carpenter and her daughters. Her story is so much like mine, only the name is different and I have no minor children.

I, too, was self employed as a personal caregiver. The lady I was caring for had to be placed in a care center, because I could no longer care for her after I was diagnosed with double breast cancer. I had no health insurance due to the fact that I was born with diabetes and am insulin dependent.

I have used every dollar I have on medical treatment, lab tests and everything else that goes with the diagnosis of breast cancer. I, too, have no money to pay my monthly bills, let alone medical bills, or to buy medication.

This is what I am trying to say: There are a lot of Ginette Carpenters and Eva Nelsons right here in Highlands County, and in these United States of America. People, we need universal health care in America.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so please get your mammograms and remember breast cancer is not only a women's disease.
