An article appeared on the front page of Highlands Today a few days ago about a gentleman named "Bill." Now, I am sure that there are many people out there who don't know who "Bill" is either.
It seems that Bill is an ordinary person, much like you and I. No, he didn't rob a bank nor did he take some little old lady's purse, however Bill is breaking a law. You are now asking, for what? Well, as it turns out, Bill is the gentleman who sells fresh produce along U.S. 27, and our law enforcement has been nudging Bill to cease and desist, because it is against the law. "Who knew?"
I have since learned that in fact, Bill is a very ill gentleman, who has lots of medical problems, thus medical bills, and is operating without any assistance, and simply trying to make it on his own by doing whatever he can to survive. Let's try the American way.
What can we do to help Bill, not harass him. By the way, I have bought produce from Bill, and felt good about it. How about it folks; let's give him a break.
