Misinformation, Part II

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A few weeks ago, I wrote about my opinion that a lot of misinformation is intentionally given out in politics and/ or by bureaucrats. Most e-mails I received agreed with me.

One respondent questioned why the politicians would do that when they want projects to be on time and within budget. I have a very long list of very proven reasons why they do. In a short summary, I believe the combined reason is arrogance. They have a very overwhelming paradigm that they possess unquestioned entitlement. They use that to satisfy their desire to accomplish many of their personal agendas, and to get projects started.

The media is full of examples every day. The latest is FEMA when they programmed a press release and had their own people pose as newsmen who followed their script.

But now, I see the local politicians, who just a very few weeks ago, bemoaned the fact that the proposed property tax reduction would put the local government in a dire financial position. They mentioned laying off many public service personnel, including EMTs and others, which would result in reduced response time to public service needs.

Now, I read where we have lots of extra money to hire four new high-level executives to assist the new county administrator, now referred to as the "CEO."

Apparently, they are debating whether to hire them now, or after the new CEO is hired, when that person could hire "his own people." I have no doubt the majority of the HCBOCC will decide to hire them now, so they can reward their good ole buddies. Where did this idea come from and where is the money coming from? I failed to see anything about this in one of our local newspapers.

Mr. Bates will be at the Sun 'N Lakes Estates of Lake Placid November meeting, maybe he can answer that question.

Meanwhile, politics as usual, and I say again, there is not one iota of difference between a Democrat or Republican. The only difference is which way the money flows to special interest groups and who gets the most perks.

I really enjoy the email I get with opinions, gives me an idea just how many really read the editorials. I can be reached at weclagg@strato.net.
