'Twas The Year Before Voting

'Twas the year before voting and throughout all our land,
With all our problems no politician seems to have a plan.

Oh, there are many talking a lot and pretending to care,
In hopes that they will end up in the White House chair.

The Republicans and Democrats both have thoughts and a plan,
But it seems not for us, only our money in their party can.

Romney, Rudi, McCain, Hillary, Obama, Biden and so many more,
Taking their polls, saying what's needed and keeping the score.

While all us voters are nestled all snug in our beds,
Visions of leadership is dancing in their heads.

Political aides have mastered the sound bite and print,
Not telling the whole truth, just giving us a hint.

When will us voters wake up and realize the lies in the chatter,
It's all about their party; programs or people don't really matter.

Read their records, study their lives, put on your thinking cap,
Don't let the talking heads-make of you a sap!

Look at our past, check out the present, does our current direction matter to you?
Nearing 4,000 dead and no telling how many are mamed, but more than a few.

Our debt is way beyond comprehension who knows where that will end too,
The extreme rise in the price of gas affects all we buy and all we do.

Beyond all our trials and tribulations our service people always standing tall,
They go where they are sent, willing to answer our government's call.

It doesn't matter to them who is the Commander in Chief,
As it's their duty to follow, regardless of the grief.

When your wondering eyes stop and a service person should appear,
Remember to honor them as you have nothing to fear.

If you pass a service man or woman in uniform wherever you are,
Smile, even salute, let them know they are your shining star.

It's your Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Marine, Guard and Air Force,
Officer or enlisted, man or woman, they will all stay the course.

Be proud of their service and humble in their company,
Your support is needed for all of them to see.

Show your pride in their service by living a good life,
Don't trash the streets, steal, do drugs or beat your wife.

Work if you can, help others and love your family and friend,
Get involved, vote intelligently, be the best you can.
