Global Economy

Mr. Pusey, here are the facts about "global economy." Most countries charge a 100 percent duty on imported American goods, including cars. Some countries charge a 200 percent duty on imported American cars. This, of course, makes any American car uncompetitive price wise in the world marketplace.

Japan, for example, does not import American cars. They do, however, buy American scrap steel to make their clunkers out of. In turn, they export American jobs. The rest of the world has been parasites on the American economy for years; what is happening to us now bears this out.

Mr. Pusey, American unemployment is at double digits right now. I think you should go down to the unemployment office and talk up your support for the global economy. I'm sure the people there who can't buy a job will appreciate that. You'll be lucky to leave in one piece.

For myself, circumstances have left me working part time when I can get the work. I am an educated person with many letters behind my last name and many years experience in my field. Full-time jobs are gone in my field because so many Americans have lost their jobs.

Many times I have been forced to buy Chinese products because there are no American-made counterparts around any more. In each case, the Chinese product failed miserably. Why does America tolerate foreign-made mediocrity while, at the same time, it bad mouths American products and labor?

Maybe, Mr. Pusey, we should import a foreigner to do your job; you won't mind, global economy, right?

I remember reading a newspaper report a few years back about an Asian country. I won't say which one, but it proclaimed that their goal was to undermine the economy of the West.

Our country was founded by brave, intelligent men who all had great foresight. One of our basic principles was "to keep our country free of foreign intervention." That's just one of many we have lost along the way.

There is no "global economy," just the raping of our country by greedy countries. What is wrong with our country being number one again? I hate to see this country go the way other great civilizations have gone. But, that's where we are headed if we don't back ourselves up.
