The Lake Placid boys and girls track teams started the season with a bang on Tuesday.

The Avon Park Red Devils know they have a difficult chore ahead of them tonight, as they travel to Tampa to face Berkeley Prep in the Class 4A-Region 3 semifinals. But they also realize it's a winnable game if the team plays well.
The Sebring Blue Streaks and the Avon Park Red Devils entered Friday night with each sporting a 4-0 record. When early Saturday morning rolled around, it was the Blue Streaks who left with their unblemished record intact, following a four-and-a-half hour, 9-5 victory in 11 innings.

Both Chris DeJesus and Josh Figur were eliminated with a pair of losses on Friday.

Avon Park coach Luther Clemons had his team's entire game plan for Thursday's Class 4A regional quarterfinal game against Sarasota Booker written on an eraser board. "Run." And that's what the Red Devils did, pulling away in the second half to post a 65-51 victory over the Tornadoes in the Red Devils' gym.
