SEBRING - The Sebring girls put on a dominating performance at the Heartland Conference Tournament on Friday and Saturday as the Blue Streaks won every match they played en route to their fifth consecutive Heartland Conference title on their home courts.

The two-day event began Friday and the players played the five singles final matches first thing Saturday morning before concluding the event with the completion of the doubles semifinals, with the doubles finals played afterward.

At No. 1 singles, Sebring's Nisha Patel came away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lake Placid's Hannah Waller in the championship match, while the Blue Streaks' No. 2 player, Joy Donglasan, outlasted Lake Placid's Stephanie Rodriguez 6-2, 6-4 to claim the title.

Kelly Broen gave the Blue Streaks the victory at No. 3 singles, with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Hardee's Caroline Durrance in the finals.

At No. 4 singles, the Blue Streaks' Morgan Heston rolled past Hardee's Madison Burnett by a score of 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match, while the Blue Streaks' Micaela DeVane came away with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Lake Placid's Rachel Shattler to claim the No. 5 singles title.

In doubles action, the Blue Streaks' team of Patel and Donglasan came away with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Hardee tandem of Ashley Baker and Durrance, while Broen and Heston teamed up at No. 2 doubles and grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 victory over the Green Dragons' team of Claire LeBlanc and Jenna Blount.

"This was a great tournament that really helps the girls get ready for districts, which will take place the first week of April," said Sebring coach Janie Hollinger.

The Blue Streaks tallied the maximum 21 points possible, while the Green Dragons had a solid showing and placed second with 10 points, edging out the Hardee Wildcats, which finished with nine points.

The Red Devils were fourth with five points, while DeSoto scored four points.

The Blue Streaks will remain at home, hosting Lake Wales today, and then will travel to Hardee on Tuesday. The Blue Streaks are 5-1 on the season.

The Green Dragons, who are 4-2 on the season, take to the road Tuesday to face DeSoto, while the Red Devils will make the short trip to Frostproof on Tuesday afternoon to face the Bulldogs.
