The Blue Streaks had a good following of fans that made the trip to Stuart, including Sebring Athletic Director Chris Cook.
The boys team was led by freshman David Daniels who put in a superb performance in the anchor position. Daniels performed under pressure to secure wins and in regular 10-pin bowling he posted games of a near perfect 279, 212 and 247 for a series total of 738, which is a 246 average. Thorsten Przychocki and Carl Daniels were close behind with games of 227 and 211, along with senior Josh Lyons who bowled a 225.
In game two, Carl Daniels took the reigns with an outstanding 268 backed up by Przychocki with 242. The overall team average for the boys was an impressive 207.46.
In the Baker format semifinals, the Blue Streak boys topped Jensen Beach and then faced Martin County in a close match which resulted in a 219 tie and a two frame roll off in the first game which was won by Martin County. The Streaks lost the second game and then came back to win third by a margin of 227 to 195.
Finally, the match ended with victory for Martin County in the fourth game.
Sebring went on to defeat Lincoln Park Academy to secure a birth to the state tournament and set up a rematch against the defending state champion Martin County Tigers. In the final match, Martin County took the first three games to clench first place with the Blue Streaks in at a solid second.
The Blue Streak girls were led by senior Shalontay Rose who bowled 195, 184 and 173 in the regular 10-pin qualifier. Rose was followed by senior Kiana Crain with scores of 179, 133, and 171. Katryanna Barina and Jessica Chaney posted three-game totals of 457 and 435 respectively with backup by Marissa Andujar with a 393 series.
The girls fell just short of qualifying for a trip to the state tournament and although it was a tearful time for the team, their performance was superior keeping in mind that this is only their second season of competition.
The Blue Streaks will start back to practice today with an eye on taking the top spot at the State Championships, which will be held at Boardwalk Bowl on Nov. 7 and 8 in Orlando.
