AVON PARK When a person trying to sell an all-terrain vehicle told an deputy it was hot, that wasn’t because the ATV’s engine had over-heated, an arrest report said.

A man suspected of being involved in the sale of the stolen vehicle last November was arrested on a warrant, according to a report released this week.

Michael William Barnett, 41, 1506 Queen Palm Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with third-degree grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

The investigation leading to the arrest began Nov. 10, 2012, when a person reported it stolen, the warrant said.

Ten days later, investigators got word that someone was trying to sell a vehicle matching the stolen ATV’s description, the warrant said.

The report said that the person trying to sell the ATV, apparently for Barnett, told the deputy that the ATV was hot to the point where it should be sold in another county.
