LORIDA - A woman was arrested Feb. 10 after being accused of threatening to kill members of a family if their dog harmed her cats, according to an arrest report.

Sammie Jane Carnley, 51, 1916 S.E. Holiday Drive, Lorida, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary of a structure or conveyance and cruelty toward a child.

The arrest came after a man told authorities that Carnley entered his residence with a claw hammer, the report said.

The witness told deputies that Carnley screamed at occupants of the residence and threatened that if their dog killed one of her cats, she would kill everyone in the household plus the dog, the report said. A 6-year-old boy told deputies he was afraid that Carnley would hit him with a hammer, the report added.

Carnley denied threatening the family, the report said.
