LAKE PLACID - Elisabeth von Trapp, granddaughter of Baron and Maria von Trapp, whose story was made into "The Sound of Music," is scheduled to perform a free concert at First Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. Feb. 10, 410 N. Oak Ave.

Von Trapp's concert repertoire covers the gamut of vocal music, including classical, pop and gospel favorites, along with her own compositions.

Von Trapp was born and raised in Vermont, and the sounds of music have been part of her life since her earliest memories. Her professional singing career began during childhood, and by age 16 she was playing guitar and traveling New England's back roads performing with her siblings at weddings, gospel events and town hall meetings. Since then, she has performed before audiences in European cathedrals and the Kennedy Center in Washington.

Inspired by her father's guitar playing and singing, Elisabeth has created her own artistic voice, which the New York Times called hauntingly clear, and the Narragansett Times declared flawless.

The Sunday concert includes First Presbyterian Church's adult and children's choirs singing "Edelweiss" and "The Storm Is Passing Over" with von Trapp.

Tickets are not needed. Refreshments will be served in the Gospel Garden at 3:30 p.m.
