LAKE PLACID Two men told authorities they beat another man because they believed he had tried to rape a woman, according to arrest affidavits.

Kevin Francis Risch, 21, 1555 Lake Clay Drive, Lake Placid, and Kevin Karl Hansen, 22, 616 Denise Ave., Sebring, were arrested by the Lake Placid Police Department and charged with burglary with assault or battery and third-degree grand theft.

They were arrested after the victim told deputies that two men broke into his residence while he was in the shower and then struck him repeatedly in the face. He also said they stole more than $300 from him.

"Blood was found throughout the house leaving from the southeast corner bedroom to the northern entrance/exit door," the report said.

Both Risch and Hansen told authorities that a woman told them that the man they are accused of assaulting attempted to rape her, the arrest affidavit said.

Risch told deputies that Hansen stole the money, but Hansen denied that, the arrest affidavit said.

They admitted to striking the victim, the reports said.
