SEBRING - Three men already in jail for at least one of two restaurant robberies were charged with 16 other burglaries, according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

Arrested in connection with the 16 burglaries in Leisure Lakes were Akeem Wilson, 25; and his brother, Andre Wilson, 20; both of 311 S. Sun 'n Lake Blvd., Sebring; and Eric Kendrix, 24, 916 Amaranth St., Lake Placid.

All three have been charged previously with the robbery of a Bob Evans Restaurant, and Sebring police arrested Kendrix and Andre Wilson in connection with the robbery of a Pizza Hut.

Highlands County Sheriff Susan Benton credits "excellent investigative teamwork with being able to bring these burglars to justice."

"From uniform patrol deputies providing good reports and intense follow up, passing on all information they observed or heard, to our Safe Neighborhood Unit doing surveillance, to our Criminal Investigations Unit putting boots on the ground following leads and working with Sebring Police Department, together making these cases and putting these criminals behind bars where they belong," Benton said.

"These guys are responsible for disturbing the lives of many of our residents, causing fear and stealing their belongings. Our law enforcement personnel deserve praise for their tenacity in tracking down these guys."
