AVON PARK A Wauchula man accused of stealing items from Wal-Mart questioned why he was being treated like "a f---ing criminal," according to an arrest report.

Dean Warren Hermosillo, 27, 1217 Sparrow Road, Wauchula, was arrested Feb. 15 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with trespass, third-degree grand theft and resisting a merchant, according to an arrest report released this week.

The arrest came after an employee at Wal-Mart in Avon Park alerted the manager about a man leaving with stolen items. As the man was loading items into his car, the manager approached and asked to see a receipt, the arrest report said.

The man later identified as Hermosillo asked why he was being treated as a "f---ing criminal" and added he could not produce a receipt, the report said.

Instead of accompanying the manager back to the store, the man ran, but was later caught by deputies, the report said.

Hermosillo told deputies that he would kick out the back window of a patrol car unless he was given a cigarette, the report said.

When he did not get to smoke, Hermosillo kicked at the window, but failed to break it open, the report said.
