SEBRING - A Sebring man was arrested Thursday and accused of stealing and pawning his own parents' wedding rings, according to an arrest report.

Matthew William Hawk Jr., 26, 111 Marrero Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with three counts of giving false information to a pawnbroker, two counts of third-degree grand theft, petit theft and three counts of dealing in stolen property.

The arrest occurred after Hawk's father reported that he had discovered that a flute that once belonged to the suspect's grandmother was stolen and pawned, and that he and his wife's wedding rings were missing, the report said.

An investigation led detectives to think that the son pawned the rings and the flute, the report said.
