SEBRING - You don't have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy today's third annual Sebring Thunder car show in downtown Sebring.

But if nostalgia is your thing you're in for a treat.

The day kicks off with more car registrations downtown from 7 to 11 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. and the popular car show from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The registration fee is $25, which included one entry to last night's burnout contest, one entry to the event at Sebring International Raceway on Sunday and one ticket to the awards barbecue tonight. You do not have to have a car in the show to register.

At noon, the noise sensitive will have to cover their ears when all engines will be started to create "Sebring Thunder."

The Shannon Reed Band will provide entertainment on the Circle from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

At 5 p.m., events continue for anyone who registered at the Kenilworth Lodge, with a poolside barbecue, awards and music.

At 9 a.m. Sunday, entrants will line up on the empty lot across from the Kenilworth Lodge for a cruise to the Sebring International Raceway, where they get to ride the track.

Business owner and Community Redevelopment Agency Commissioner Gene Brenner said Tuesday that they already had nine food vendors registered and he was talking with a couple more.

Brenner hoped for about 600 people to come into the city with the entrants, as well as a crowd of "a couple thousand" visitors for the car show.
