HIGHLANDS COUNTY - A Lake Placid man was arrested Thursday and accused of participating in the armed robbery and kidnapping of another man, according to an arrest affidavit.

Brian Keith Underwood, 34, of 408 Hillside Ave., Lake Placid, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with kidnapping, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and armed robbery.

The arrest came a month after a man reported that Underwood arrived at his vehicle and told him that someone wanted to talk to him, the affidavit said.

The man said that after he got into the vehicle a second man told him he owed him money and then began choking him since he didn't have the money, the affidavit said. The second man pointed a gun at him, the affidavit said.

After the second man took a bottle containing 90 prescription pills from his pocket, the victim was allowed to leave the vehicle, he told authorities.
