The Florida Department of Transportation has issued the following road advisories for Highlands County:

No lane closures are expected. Motorists are advised to use caution and be aware of construction activities in the area.

Starting Monday, the contractor will continue daytime construction activities to include pond embankment and excavation, placement of storm drainage and median widening.

That work will require temporary lane closures of northbound and/or southbound lanes.

However, lane closures will not be permitted within 600 feet of the signalized intersection on U.S. 27 at West Stryker Road/County Road 17A W., between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, work is anticipated to be in effect for several months.

The current speed limit of 45 mph will be maintained throughout the project and will remain after construction is complete. Motorists are advised to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone. The project is slated for completion in fall 2013.

Motorists should be aware of slow-moving traffic with possible delays.

This project is expected to be complete in late September.

There will be lane closures at various locations from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
