AVON PARK - Highlands County deputies checking into whether drug activity was occurring at a residence didn't have to do much investigating, an arrest report indicates.

"Upon entering the front door of (name withheld) residence, I immediately smelled an overwhelming odor of fresh cannabis from within the residence," a deputy wrote in the arrest report.

Lorenzo Williams Jr., 35, 304 N. Lake Ave., Avon Park, was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams was arrested after deputies found a scale and bags of marijuana, packaged in a fashion typical with sale of marijuana, the report said.

He was released on $2,500 bond.
