A Sebring man was accused Thursday of attempting to burglarize a house and set a porch on fire, according to an arrest report.

David Matthew Floyd, 28, 9210 Morgan Pass, Sebring, was arrested by the Sebring Police Department and charged with arson and burglary of an occupied structure.

The arrest came after the resident told police a man later identified as Floyd was attempting to burglarize his residence and set a covered back porch on fire using gasoline, the report said.

Police arrested Floyd, and the fire, which caused $100 damage, was extinguished with a hose, the report said.

The homeowner said he did not know Floyd, the report said.
