LULAC meeting tonight

AVON PARK - The League of United Latin American Citizens will be holding a special meeting at 7 p.m., today, at 1 W. Main St. (old Touchton building) to discuss the City of Avon Park's proposed Farm Worker Housing Ordinance 15-12 and other issues.Published: October 10, 2012
LULAC official Patty Austin said city council candidates Garrett Anderson and James Barnard will provide their input on the 15-12 Amendment and how or if they have plans to include the Hispanics in the community.
NAACP President Al Hinson will also offer his input on Amendment 15-12, she said.
Sue Diaz, the mother of Michael Diaz, will provide an update on the effort to free her son who is in prison for an incident involving former Avon Park Police officer James Parker.
They will also discuss plans for an annual Hispanic event in the city, Austin said.
