Investigation continues in toddler's death

SEBRING Detectives with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office continued the investigating into the death of a 2-year-old child in the Spring Lake subdivision Friday.Published: September 7, 2012
"At approximately 2:15 p.m. Central Dispatch received a call that CPR was in progress on a child," said Nell Hays, sheriff's spokeswoman. "Paramedics responded however they were unable to resuscitate the child."
No further details are available at this time and the case remained under investigation.
"Our hearts go out to this family as their loss is excruciating," said Sheriff Susan Benton. "Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragedy as we offer the family our services during this difficult time."
