Donald Leroy Yaney Jr., 48, was charged with aggravated domestic violence-related battery, because he and his 46-year-old sister both live at the same residence, according to the arrest report.
Investigators were called to Yaney's residence at about 1:34 p.m., Sunday, the report stated.
"The defendant swung a machete at the victim's head area causing her to block the strike with her hand," Deputy Jon Wilkinson reported. "The victim was struck on the heel of her right hand when protecting herself."
No reason for the alleged attack was included in the report.
She received a cut to her hand that was treated by Highlands County Emergency Medical Services personnel, Wilkinson stated.
The machete was described in the report as being about two feet long.
The victim and a witness reported there have been prior acts of domestic violence at the residence, the report stated.
Yaney was arrested in April 2010 and was charged with domestic violence battery upon the same victim by striking her, according to Sheriff's Central Records.
