SEBRING - A biker was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after his Kawasaki was hit by a Toyota Camry, which was turning north onto U.S. 27 from Lowe's access road into the same lane as the bike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The biker, Philip Belden, 69, Sebring, was flown to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries after the 10:05 a.m. accident, the FHP adds.

Roland Worthinton, 77, of Sebring, was trying to turn into the northbound outside lane in the direct path of the bike, the FHP added. The impact sent the bike sliding 30 feet, the FHP added.

Worthinton had a passenger in his car who was not hurt, either, the FHP added. Belden was wearing a helmet.
