SEBRING - Preparations for the ninth annual U.S. Sport Aviation Expo are swinging into high gear for the Jan. 17-20 event, and the expo management team is looking for volunteers to assist them before and during the event, held annually at the Sebring Regional Airport.Published: December 1, 2012
"We welcomed 16,000 people from throughout the world to our four-day event this past January," said expo director Jana Filip, "and there's a myriad of jobs that we need help with. We're hoping to recruit about 300 volunteers, and we're hoping many of our previous volunteers will return."
Filip, along with expo assistant and volunteer coordinator Lauren Moore, will meet with anyone interested in volunteering at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Sebring Civic Center, 319 W. Center St., Sebring.
"Local volunteers are a key component of the expo's success," said Moore, "and we look forward to talking with anyone who thinks they might be interested. We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, from welcoming visitors at the main gate to assisting with the event setup and teardown to shuttling visitors around on golf carts.
"Volunteering at the expo is a great way to meet new friends and learn more about aviation."
Returning expo volunteers are encouraged to attend the meeting.
