SEBRING - Dozens of bikers are revved up for ABATE Florida Inc., Interstate chapter's 27th annual Toy Run that will hit the road Saturday.

ABATE stands for American Bikers Aimed Toward Education. Event organizer Tina Bennett said the toy run's goal is to help 29 needy families with 83 children.

The line-up will start at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Blue Crab Restaurant, 825 N. Ridgewood Drive, Sebring, and depart from the eatery at 1 p.m.

"I expect 150 to 200 motorcycles," she said.

They will travel north on County Road 17 to Main Street in Avon Park, then south on U.S. 27 to Lake Placid and then return to Sebring where the toy run will end at the Elks Lodge at 2618 Kenilworth Blvd.

The public is asked to donate an unwrapped toy at one of 51 designated drop-off spots with decorated boxes around the county, from Avon Park to Sebring to Lake Placid.

There are drop-off boxes at Big Jack's Heartland Bowling Center in Sebring and Coz's Sports Bar & Bowl in Lake Placid, the Bealls Outlet in Sebring and many restaurants, including the Sebring Diner and the Lake Placid Pizza Hut, Bennett noted.
