SEBRING - Beer, brats, perfect weather and 80 vintage sports cars all converge today on the Sebring Circle as the Circle of Speed returns with its largest show.

The cars will zoom into downtown Sebring at about 5 p.m. Visitors can mill around, check out the cars, talk to the drivers, grab some beer and brats and listen to the band Rebound.

The cars belong to the Sports Vintage Racing Association and event coordinator Lora Todd said many have raced at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The Circle of Speed also kicks off the 12 Hours of Sebring, held in March, and a new sports-car racing season.

Todd said she was excited at the record number of cars expected to be on display today.

"It will be the biggest Circle of Speed," she said. "It's new and improved."

Last year there were some "issues" with the timeliness of the food served.

"We took all the suggestions from last year to make it better," Todd added.

The increased participation is because race car drivers who were here last year had a good time, she said, and through word-of-mouth news of the event spread out to other drivers.

Plus, there are more entries at the vintage car race scheduled this weekend at the Sebring Raceway.

Those who have been here before will see some changes. No armbands for unlimited food are being sold. A beer and a brat costs $6. There will be other refreshments available too.

Todd belongs to the Heartland Riders Association, which is organizing the event along with the Sebring Chamber of Commerce.

The riders association took over organizing the event last year to "bring it back to life," Todd said.

"I hope people are not disappointed," she said. "It will be beautiful weather."
