3 charged with grand theft at Walmart

SEBRING - Three Sebring men are charged in connection with a shoplifting incident from the Sebring Walmart Friday in which two large-screen televisions and a gasoline-powered generator were taken.Published: November 21, 2012
Allan Lee Born, 35, of 3029 Villa Road, Sebring; Justin Douglas Fairman, 29 of 419 Grapefruit Road, Sebring; and Frederick Taber Reed, 28, of Grapefruit Road, Sebring, were each charged with grand theft of more than $300, but less than $5,000.
According to a Sebring Police Department report, the three men arrived at Walmart around 12:52 p.m. and Fairman was observed in the electronics department looking at Vizio televisions. Reed was seen selecting two of the 32-inch Vizio smart televisions and placing them in his cart.
Born put a 5,500-watt generator in his cart, the report said. Fairman checked out some miscellaneous items at a register and all three men walked out of the store.
As they exited the store, the anti-theft devices sounded the store's alarm, the report shows.
The two Vizio televisions stolen by Reed were valued at $698 each, the report states. The generator and jeans taken by Born were valued at $500 and $25, respectively, the report shows.
The report states that a Be On The Lookout For alert was issued for the Ford 150 the suspects reportedly used.
Later, authorities located the truck at Sebring Paradise Apartments, the report adds. Born and Fairman were seen entering the truck, the report states, and they were arrested during a traffic stop after the vehicle left the complex, the report states.
"Numerous stolen items were located in the truck, to include the UST generator and the Levi Strauss jeans," the report adds.
Reed was later taken into custody at his apartment, the report adds.
Reed and Fairman were being held Monday in the Highlands County Jail.
Born was released Saturday from the Highlands County Jail on $1,000 bond.
