It's exciting when something new is introduced for this area and then have the opportunity watch it bloom into something special. We've witnessed that with the Sport Aviation Expo. From humble beginnings it opened and now much larger crowds are pouring into the airport each year. We believe another new event has the same potential.Published: April 25, 2012
Today marks the first day of the first All Florida Ag Tradeshow being held in Sebring at the Highlands County Fair Convention Center. The show will bring experts and exhibits concerning all facets of agriculture in our great state. It's a big deal and we hope this is the beginning of a new tradition.
The tradeshow will offer a place for anyone in the agriculture business to learn more about the issues affecting them, new techniques on just about everything and information concerning everything from water to production to labor and conservation.
This show is the brainchild of Michael Waldron, a councilman for Lake Placid. He's been in the agriculture business for years and he saw the potential for such a tradeshow. He took it to the Highlands County Farm Bureau and the membership there also saw the need of this show.
Highlands County is the perfect place to hold such an event. It's centrally located in the state and right in the middle of our state's agricultural wheelhouse. Highlands County is one of the top ag producing counties in the state and is surrounded by other counties just as productive in growing all kinds of products.
This tradeshow is unique in that not just citrus, or cattle, or tomatoes, or whatever are represented here. All types of Florida ag is welcome and that's why there's so much potential.
We hope this tradeshow is a big hit, and over the years it will continue to grow into a popular statewide event. The potential certainly is there and so is the need for something like it.
Congratulations to Waldron and the Highlands County Farm Bureau for having the foresight to begin this tradeshow.
