Health insurance
The Republicans just might have something with their proposed voucher program for health care. I’m sure that Romney, being the great businessman he claims to be, knows that you have to have a test-market prior to the launch of any new product, so all the bugs can be ironed out.
I suggest the test market be all federal and government employees, currently employed. Just give them all a voucher and let them purchase their own health coverage. Once the bugs are all worked out, it can be implemented for the general population. Got some ideas for their retirement pensions, too!
Just saying.

Good candidate
I strongly support the candidacy of Rebecca Fleck for the office of superintendent of Highlands County schools.
Ms. Fleck is a brilliant and dedicated educator with outstanding credentials. Moreover, she has had invaluable experience as a classroom teacher and school principal prior to assuming her current position as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
As a former educator in Highlands County at both the high school and college levels, I know that there is simply no substitute for this kind of experience. Ms. Fleck brings a depth of understanding and focus to the innumerable challenges that teachers, administrators, students and parents face every single day. She knows her job from the ground up.
She also has a proven record of excellence, having won honors at both the state and national levels. She was named Florida’s Assistant Principal of the Year at Lake Placid Middle School. Later, under her leadership as principal, Lake Placid Middle School was named one of the top 100 "Wired Schools" in the United States.
In addition to her other accomplishments, Rebecca Fleck was also a driving force behind the creation of the Highlands County Career Academy at South Florida State College. She serves as principal of the academy where students can earn both a high school diploma as well as a certificate in their chosen field.
Ms. Fleck has the experience, knowledge, leadership and vision to immeasurably improve the quality of education for all school children in this county. We are indeed fortunate that her name will be on the ballot for Superintendent of Highlands County Schools.

Offensive cartoon
I am a Christian and I was deeply offended by the Doonesbury "cartoon" in Sunday’s paper. But, unlike radical Muslims, Christians do not respond by rioting, burning and killing.
After the week that we have just experienced, Trudeau’s work is insulting to those of us who do believe in the Bible. If you can’t believe the Word of God by faith, may I suggest a movie, "The Genesis Code," that confirms all we know in our hearts.
I wouldn’t want to be standing too near Mr. Trudeau during a thunderstorm.
