That's why we vote

I was shocked by a photo which appeared in our church bulletin Sunday. Leaders of the church should be setting a good example for our young people and church members.

The photo showed Catholic Bishop Frank Dewane at the Religious Freedom Rally in Naples on June 8. Our local Catholic parish members participated in this rally.

Bishop Dewane was holding a sign which read: "Defend Religious Freedom." Nothing wrong with that.

Next to the bishop was a sign: "Religious Freedom — Not Obama Tyranny." So, they are saying that President Obama is a tyrant (Webster says the definition of a tyrant is "a person who exercises power in a cruel way.")

I am a practicing Catholic. I love my church. But I could not believe the sign in this photo. We live in the greatest country in the world. If you don't agree with the policies of the person holding office, vote that person out of office.

The American people elected Barack Obama as "our president." Disrespect for our president is not acceptable, and we certainly should not be telling our church members and young people that it is OK.

It was wrong when President Bush was called "dumb, Nazi, liar and baby killer," and it's wrong when President Obama is called tyrant and other names that cannot be written here.

If you are not happy with our president and current government, just go to the polls and vote your elected officials out of office. It's that simple!

Get rid of the old

In the June 22 letters to the editor, Gabriel Read said some things that were misinformation.

Mr. Read goes on about the Bush administration causing the housing and banking mess. The truth is, when George W. Bush was elected for his second term, the citizens also elected a majority of Democrats to the Senate and Congress.

Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid sent us into a dangerous spiral that caused the financial disaster. Bush had no control over what they did. He could only veto some things.

Remember hearing Barney Frank saying, "I am willing to roll the dice again on Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, they are both healthy?" This was two years before they both collapsed in financial ruin. So do not blame the Republicans totally for this mess, the incompetence of all these people, along with the socialist mindset of the Democrats caused this disaster.

Look at Europe now with their socialist-style governments all in ruins. The statement about government jobs compared to private sector jobs shows a total lack on understanding how things work.

The government is totally supported by taxpayers, and who are the taxpayers? The taxpayers are all of us who work for the private sector. We support the government, they do not support us.

The unions of this country have also been to blame for our financial ruin. How can any company pay way too much for a worker to make a product and compete with someone like China that has child laborers being paid pocket change and getting only what the Communist state wills they get?

All in all, I do not want to live to see America ruined by these socialist idealists, so we just need to vote every politician of the left wing out of office. It will take years for good, honest people to straighten out the mess they have been left with in Washington now.

We all need to use our heads and look at history. We do not want it to repeat itself again. Clear out all the corruption in Washington now. Vote all old politicians out.
