Stop Swamp HammockPublished: April 3, 2012
Beware of the title "Extreme Fitness." Stop Swamp Hammock; it will be used mainly for mud bogging events off of West Josephine and Marguerite roads.
Residents, it is imperative you come to the county commissioners' meeting at 9 a.m. today.
Swamp Hammock organizers have made incorrect statements saying they had the go-ahead to hold this event or future events.
This is not a true statement. No permits have been approved. Ordinance and zoning have not been approved. The road and bridge department has not given the OK. The road is not adequate to handle mud boggers' trucks and trailers. The area is zoned for agriculture.
Despite the opinion of the county attorney, Swamp Hammock organizers Kennedy and White said they will go ahead with event.

No-common-sense government
Where in the Constitution of our country is it mandated that the government provide jobs for the populace?
The liberal screed is that our government must spend trillions to provide employment to all Americans, calling it "stimulus." What a crock. Originally, our government was only meant to provide an environment for businesses to prosper, and thus jobs for those willing to work.
Increasing taxes disproportionally on successful businesses and their founders, CEOs, etc., and anyone else making a decent wage is the current administration's stated "redistribution of wealth" idiocy.
Look at all the businesses that have moved operations overseas because of taxes, union greed and of, course, the hideous orgy of convoluted government regulations imposed by agencies craving to expand their empires.
Common sense has no place in our bloated, fatuous government agencies — the IRS, EPA, DEA, etc. — that have no idea why they were initially founded, only that they must expand their empires so they can make more rules to show they are "in charge" and need more money.
If you don't have a PhD in economics and a master's degree in database management, you cannot do your own taxes without help (more stimulus jobs for accountants, I suppose). All government agencies are guilty in this nebulous, bureaucratic horror story.
Governmental participation in people's lives and businesses was supposed to grease the skids, so to speak, for people and businesses to thrive in this great country. Liberals have the exact opposite viewpoint. They must regulate, control, tax, block growth and issue decrees to keep everyone in line. Nothing can be done without either their or their financial backers' (unions) stamp of approval.
With a continuing Democratic Senate and president, this moronic, liberal "stimulus" spending, ObamaCare, et al, will indeed work when our economy is completely bankrupt and China, Mexico, Thailand, etc., will outsource their operations to the United States for our cheap labor market and our 90 percent unemployment.
Get a head start on the competition now; teach your children and grandchildren to make wind-up toys, sneakers and cheap T-shirts.
