My friend and co-worker, Bo Birt, is running for Highlands County Tax Collector. Bo, a lifelong resident of Highlands County, is an extremely hard worker and has good skills for this job. He worked his way through college earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. Bo has 33 years of relevant experience - 20 years in the private sector and 13 years with local governmental agencies.

Bo worked as the controller and chief financial officer of the News-Sun, where he supervised the accounting department for 20 years. Then for three years he worked as the finance director for the city of Avon Park. And for the last 10 years he has served as the finance director for the School Board of Highlands County. At the School Board, Bo supervises the finance, payroll, warehouse, property records and custodial departments, and works with a budget in excess of $100 million annually.

With his education and technical and management experience, Bo is the most qualified candidate for this job. Bo also listens and cares about his customers. He consistently demonstrates the qualities of a true servant leader. He will serve us well as our Tax Collector.
