Why did you start the business?

My husband spent his summers growing up in Lake Placid. When we moved here from Broward County, I saw there was no "sweet shoppe." I love downtown Lake Placid, so it was a perfect place. We love this town and wanted to be part of it.

What's unique about your business that makes it different from the competition?

The only competition is Publix, which I love. But my place is very cute inside. I bake all homemade - cupcakes, cakes, brownies. We also have slushies and soft pretzels. We have made-to-order-cakes, including wedding cakes.

What challenges do you face in business?

Getting the word out about us.

What do you like about your business?

It's cozy and lets me meet a lot of wonderful people. I like watching people smile. My husband I were in law enforcement - my husband still is - so we saw a lot of sad things and this is such a different world.
