SEBRING - A vehicle chase into Sebring Monday afternoon ended with a man's arrest on drug trafficking and ammunition charges.
Sanjay Oratio Johnson, 24, of 4829 Sago Palm Drive, Sebring, was charged with trafficking in marijuana in excess of 25 pounds, a first-degree felony, and possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted Florida felon, a second-degree felony.
He remained in the Highlands County Jail Tuesday under a $150,000 bond.
Johnson left his house with a box containing 31 pounds of marijuana after the package had been left at the front door, according to the arrest report. Highlands County Sheriff's detectives, working undercover, started pursuing the suspect after he sped away in his 2000 Cadillac.
He reportedly crashed the vehicle into the front yard of a home in the 300 block of Mat-lo Avenue and ran away before being caught by law enforcement.
Members of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office's Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at Johnson's home. Ten nine millimeter rounds were reportedly found, as was $14,000 in cash.
Johnson is currently on probation for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver. He was sentenced on Jan. 22.
