When I graduated from high school at age 17, I joined the U.S. Air Force. I finished boot camp and went on to tech school. I got my orders for overseas duty and took a short leave before shipping out; I was still 17 years old.
If I had visited the Lakeshore Mall on Friday or Saturday after 6 p.m. in uniform, under the new age restriction, I would be asked to leave. I did not turn 18 until January of the following year.
What happened to common sense? I believe anyone old enough to drive to the mall, as long as they behave in a responsible manner, should be welcome any time during mall hours.
