I'd like to introduce a program that could help with that problem; it's called Work Force America.

I recently wrote a letter to Gov. Crist, to which I'm still awaiting a response, and I also wrote a letter in Highlands Today on April 17, 2008, called "Can We Revive The America Dream."

Good people are losing their cars and homes. Do I buy gas for my car or do I put food on the table? How many people have lost their businesses? How slow is your business? Most are just hanging on. We need change and we need it now.

Our country is $14 trillion in debt; what comes after trillions? I don't even know; it boggles the mind. I could go into all the problems around the world but let's concentrate on the job problem here.

Work Force America, what will it do? It will create jobs, bring new businesses to the area and help restructure failing businesses. Also, the program will be going green. Let's get people working again; give them hope and their dignity.

What Work Force America needs to start up is funding so I can get a team together to get everything in order. I've applied for the nonprofit setup but ran out of funds. There are $800 billion in grants available; we will get grants and have fundraising events. All it takes is the right people to make it work.

Heartland Workforce will be involved with helping to place people in different jobs, and we will work with government agencies to enhance the program. Training programs will also be available. People, this will be an aggressive program.

People of Highlands County, I need someone to step up with startup funds. This is a humanitarian effort, and no one will get rich from it.

I may not be the best person for the job, but after 10 years of trying, I hope I've learned something.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a one-man show. It's going to take people that care about what's going on around us and want to see change.
