Parade of Homes is under way

SEBRING - The Highlands County Builders Association's fall Parade of Homes continues through Sunday, Oct 25.

The hours are as follows: Monday - Friday from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 - 5 p.m.

Avon Park Chamber of Commerce to hold luncheon

AVON PARK - The Avon Park Chamber of Commerce will hold its noon luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the Hotel Jacaranda.

The cost is $10.

Florida Hospital Heartland Division will be the sponsor.

Morris Funeral Chapel becomes veterans' provider

SEBRING - Terrill Morris, owner of Morris Funeral Chapel, announced that his business has been selected to become a Certified Veterans & Family Memorial Care Provider for Highlands County. VFMC providers are family owned and operated.

They are selected for upholding the highest level of ethical business standards and integrity while providing outstanding, affordable professional service. The staff at Morris Funeral Chapel works closely with all Veterans Service organizations and local Hospices.

Another way VFMC Providers are reaching out is by their participation in the Cell Phones for Soldiers project. The chapel has become an official drop-off site for old cell phones to help troops stay connected with their families.

The chapel is also an Old Glory Collection Center as part of its membership in Veterans & Family Memorial Care. The mission is to collect old, tattered, unusable flags to be retired in a dignified manner in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.

Deadline set for EDC banquet

SEBRING - The Highlands County Economic Development Commission will hold its annual banquet and membership meeting Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Quality Inn Conference Center, 6525 U.S. 27 N., in Sebring.

There will be a social hour at 6 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 7.

Calypso music will be played during the social hour by the Walker Memorial Academy Steel Drum Band.

The cost is $30 per person.

Those planning to attend are asked to call 385-1025 by Oct. 22.

Bill Jarrett dealership donates to hospice

AVON PARK Bill Jarrett Ford Mercury of Avon Park commemorated its 29th anniversary with a cook-out to benefit Good Shepherd Hospice on Oct. 10.

A total of $1,000 was raised for Good Shepherd.

Florida Citrus Commission to meet

LAKELAND - The Florida Citrus Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Florida Department of Citrus, 1115 E. Memorial Blvd., in Lakeland.
