Sebring All-Sport Passes now available
SEBRING Sebring High School is selling All Sport Passes for the 2009-10 school year. The pass is valid for all home sporting events, excluding FHSAA sponsored playoffs and tournaments.
The cost of the pass is $75 per adult and $50 per student. They are on sale in the front office, check payable to Sebring High School.
Golf lessons
SEBRING Debby McNall will be holding junior golf clinics for ages 5-17 on Friday mornings at Golf Hammock at 10. Cost is $10 per child.
Ladies "Hit and Giggles" clinics will run on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. with the cost $20 per person for clinic and play.
Adult clinics will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

YMCA offering badminton
SEBRING The Highlands County YMCA is offering badminton from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays for players ages 14 and up.

Weekend youth pick-up baseball players wanted
SEBRING Want to play ball? Need a break from video games? Players are being sought for pick-up baseball games at noon on Saturdays and Sundays at the YMCA softball fields.
There is no cost. Parents are invited to join in and play with their kids, and all skill levels and ages are invited. Games are for fun and beginners are welcome.

Harder Hall golf scramble
SEBRING The 10th annual Sebring Meals on Wheels Golf Scramble will be held on Nov. 14 at the Harder Hall Golf Course. Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Participants can register in advance and save money.
The entry fee is $55 per person or $220 for a foursome if paid by Oct. 31. After that date the entry fee is $60 per person or $240 for a foursome. The entry fee includes continental breakfast, golf and cart, lunch, goodie bag and prizes. The field is limited to 144 golfers.

Travel softball team needs players

Junior tennis after-school program
SEBRING A nine-week junior tennis after-school program for kids ages 4-18 will begin on Oct. 19 and run through Dec. 18 at the Thakkar Tennis Center at Sebring Country Club. SFCC baseball camp
AVON PARK South Florida Community College will host its annual baseball camp for only high school baseball players on Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
Cost for the camp is $60 per camper, and the first 40 registered campers will be accepted.
SFCC baseball coach Rick Hitt will serve as camp director, and camp instructors include Panthers assistant coaches Andy Polk and Chad Wright.

Charity golf tournament
SEBRING Golf Hammock Country Club will host the inaugural CHS/Hanson House charity golf tournament on Nov. 7. The four-person, step-aside scramble format will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8:30. There will be a new car prize given for a hole-in-one on the specified hole, with closest-to-the-pin and closest-to-the-line on other holes. A silent auction, raffle, 50-50 drawing, beverages on the course and lunch will all be included in the $60 registration fee. Sponsorships are still available. Golf lessons
SEBRING Sun 'N Lake Country Club will hold junior clinics every Friday from 3:30-5 p.m., starting on Sept. 25. Professionals Andy Kesling and Martin O'Hora will teach all the fundamentals of the game, including the grip, stance, full swing, chipping, putting, rules, etiquette, etc. No need to sign up; just show up. Charity golf tournament
SEBRING There will be a Walkabout Golf Tournament to benefit the Children's Museum of the Highlands on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Sun 'N Lake Country Club. The two-man scramble will be played on the Turtle Run course, with sign-in at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start at 8:30. Food will be provided by Outback Steakhouse, and the top three in each flight and the drawing winners will be listed on the "Koala Wall."

Halloween 10k run/5k walk
SEBRING Ridge Area Arc and MidFlorida will present a Halloween 10K run/5K walk on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 8 a.m. in Highlands Hammock State Park. The first-time event, coordinated by Chet Brojek, will benefit Ridge Area Arc's Scholarship Fund. Early entry free is $15, which includes a cotton T-shirt, or $20, which includes a dri-fit shirt. After Oct. 26 through race day, the fee is $20.
Runners of all skill levels are invited, and prizes will be awarded in the 10K race to the overall male and female winners, as well as the first-, second- and third-place finishers in each of the 15 age categories, for the 10K or 5K participant with the most money pledged, and for the best Halloween costume.

Ladies tennis event
SEBRING The Highlands County Tennis Association is hosting a Rally for the Cure Ladies Tennis Event on Saturday, Oct. 24. The day's activities will include: morning refreshments, three 6-game matches in the morning, lunch, three 6-game matches in the afternoon. Each player will play with a different partner against different opponents each set in this round-robin event. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the event and each participant will receive a goody bag with important Komen breast health information, and other Rally items plus a one-year subscription to select Conde Nast magazines such as SELF, Golf Digest and Bon Appetit. Registration for the day's event is $25.

Ministry golf tournament
SEBRING The fourth annual Outreach Ministry will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Harder Hall Country Club. Cost for the tournament varies based on time of sign-up: $50 before Oct. 10; $60 after Oct. 10; $70 day of event. The tournament is sponsored by the Apostolic Church of Jesus in Avon Park. Joe Jenkins 5k
SEBRING The fourth annual Joe Jenkins Time Prediction 5K run/walk will be hold at 8 a.m. on Oct. 24 at Highlands Hammock State Park. A great fundraiser that benefits former park ranger Joe Jenkins is a "no watch" event that requires one to predict the time they will take to cover the 5K distance. The closet 15 to the time they predict will win awards.
Early entry is $12 before Oct. 19 and $15 on race day. Checks should be made payable to Joe Jenkins and forwarded to: Central Florida Striders, 3310 Par Road, Sebring, FL 33872. Youth basketball, cheerleading sign-ups
SEBRING Registration deadline for the youth basketball and cheerleading signups is Oct. 31 for both programs. Youth basketball is for ages 4-14, with a cost of $35 for members and $70 for non-members. Cheerleading is for ages 5-13, with a cost of $35 for members and $45 for non-members. YFC/FCA Golf Clinic
SEBRING The YFC/FCA Golf Clinic will be held on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sun 'N Lake Country Club. An optional scramble will also be held from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is open for all ninth through 12 graders. Lunch will be provided. Players will learn from the likes of Brian Bone, Pete Dupriest, Andy Kesling, Tim Foster, John Vickers and Elgin Bayless.
