Who owns the business? Darlene Pigman
Why did you start the business?
I was making cookies and a variety of treats at home for my four dogs and had family and friends ask for them. Since I have many family members in retail, this seemed like the next step.
Is there anything unique about your business that makes it different from the competition?
The treats are all natural and made by me in the store. The ingredients come from my farm or are purchased locally - and organic - when possible. I can provide personalized service. For example, making treats for dogs on special diets, ordering special dog/cat food or getting just the right collar and personalized ID tag for your pet.
What challenges do you face in business?
Location. Getting customers to travel downtown and shop on the Circle.
What do you like about your business?
Being creative with making the treats and talking with people about their pets and hearing their stories. I'm a flight nurse, so this is my de-stressor.
