If a family has lost private health insurance, a new law shortens the waiting time before switching to the state KidCare program.
Senate Bill 918 also shortens the period for reapplying if the family has been kicked out of KidCare for failing to pay premiums.
Reporter Gary Pinnell is writing a story about the low-cost insurance program for children. If you use KidCare, call 386-5828, or write to gpinnell@highlandstoday.com.
When a new law takes effect on June 30, drivers and front-seat passengers can get a $30 ticket if they aren't wearing a seat belt.
The new law allows enforcement officers to pull over vehicles solely for a belt violation. The current law requires a secondary infraction to take place before a ticket may be issued.
Have seat belts saved your life? Do you think seat belts are unnecessary? Reporter Gary Pinnell is writing a story. If you can contribute, call 386-5828, or e-mail gpinnell@highlandstoday.com.
