Plays for Great Lakes; recently named Midwest League Player of the Week

MIDLAND, Mich. - Dee Gordon, former Avon Park standout and son of Tom "Flash" Gordon has been steadily making his mark in the minor leagues.
Formerly known as Devaris Strange-Gordon, Dee Gordon is eighth in batting in the Midwest League while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers A-ball affiliate, the Great Lakes Loons and was recently named Midwest League Player of the Week.
Dee Gordon is currently batting .327 with 27 stolen bases, 30 runs, five doubles, five triples, and 14 runs batted in 37 games thus far with the Loons for the 2009 season. As Dee was being born in April of 1988, Tom Gordon was beginning the 1988 season in which he later became Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year. Twenty-one years later, exactly 12 days after his 21st birthday, Dee Gordon was named the Midwest League Player of the Week.
In 2007, during his freshman year of college, Dee Gordon was named NCCAA II National Championship Most Valuable Player after he hit .371 with 45 stolen bases to lead the Lakeland, FL Southeastern University Fire to a National Championship.
In the June, 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Dee was selected out of Seminole Community College in Sanford, by the Dodgers in the fourth round (127th overall).
In his rookie season, with the rookie ball affiliate of the Dodgers, the Ogden Raptors, Dee batted .331 with 18 stolen bases 45 runs, 13 doubles, and27 RBI. Tom "Flash" Gordon, meanwhile, won his first World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. He's currently on the Arizona Diamondbacks' roster, though he's sidelined on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.
