Man charged with 20 counts of lewd battery

19-year-old accused of having sex with 14-year-old

SEBRING - A Sebring man remained in jail Tuesday on a $150,000 bond following his weekend arrest on a warrant charging 20 counts of lewd battery with a victim between 12 and 15 years of age.

On May 5, a person requested that an investigation be started on Michael Thomas Sullivan, 19, because of suspicions of inappropriate conduct or contact. The witness told law enforcement he believed the 14-year-old victim was engaging in sexual activity with the suspect, according to the arrest report.

Authorities conducted an interview with the girl, who confirmed she and Sullivan had been having sex since January of this year.

The girl added that the two had sex 20 times, the report stated.

When investigators met with Sullivan, he chose not to give a recorded statement. Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Juan Delgado made the arrest.
