AVON PARK - Avon Park Police Officer Alberto Perez was arrested for the second time in less than a week, this time on a warrant charging perjury.
The warrant was served Tuesday, just days after he was arrested for charges of extortion or threats and official misconduct.
Since December, Perez has been arrested three times as the result of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Sebring field office and the Avon Park Police Department into police misconduct. He is accused of taking money from Hispanic Avon Park residents during traffic stops instead of giving citations or making arrests.
