AVON PARK - A Sebring man remains in jail Tuesday on a $16,000 bond following his Friday arrest in connection with first-degree attempted murder.
Derian Orret Thelwell, 30, of 111 Kennedy Drive, Sebring, was also charged with using or displaying a firearm during a felony, discharging a firearm in public, firing a missile into a dwelling, vehicle, building or aircraft and obstructing justice.
On Sept. 24, 2008, Thelwell and another man, Brian Welch, reportedly started arguing in front of Squally's in Avon Park before they began shooting at one another. A woman was hit in the leg and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, according to the arrest report.
