SEBRING - The Alan Jay Automotive Network announced that it will officially introduce the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro at a community-wide block party and auction on the historic Circle in downtown Sebring on Wednesday, May 6.

The event will kick off at 5 p.m. with complimentary food and beverages provided for the public, free giveaways a live radio remote broadcast

Two 2010 Camaro sports cars will arrive there 6 p.m., with a full introduction and vehicle demonstration given at 6:30.

At 7, both Camaros will be auctioned to the general public, with some of the proceeds going to benefit Highlands County charities. The winning bidder will be able to select which charity - from a list provided -- will receive the auction proceeds.

"This is a very exciting car, and we thought it would be only fitting if we introduced the car to the public at a downtown event," said Alan Jay Wildstein, president of the Alan Jay Automotive Network.

"It wasn't that many years ago that a new car premiere was a big event, but that seems to have died down over recent years," Wildstein added. "With all of the news regarding the automotive industry lately, it seems like a perfect time to throw a party, featuring one of the most familiar cars ever made - the Camaro."

While the Camaro became a popular American automotive icon back in the 1960s, the legend grew even larger during the 70s and 80s.

According to a press release, the newest Camaro offers two high-performance engines to choose from: a 3.6 liter V-6 engine boasting 304 horsepower, and - for the most demanding drivers - a high-performance 6.2 liter V-8 with 426 horsepower.

The car has latest technological features both inside and outside the coupe, including an available six-speed transmission, anti-lock brakes, traction control, anti-skid system, wireless cell phone link and remote vehicle starter.

The release went on to say the V-6 engine delivers 29 mpg on the highway, a truly amazing feat for such a powerful engine.

Interested bidders for one of the two Camaros to be auctioned off may pre-register at www.alanjay.com, or by calling Mark Faye at 402-4210. Pre-registration is required for all interested buyers.
