"Hellooo" can anyone up there on Capitol Hill hear me? Probably not with all that bickering going on. You are like a bunch of school kids on the playground, "He did it," "No he did it," "No he did it first." I want to yell "Stop it!" just like I did to my kids. Stop the blame game and get back to work.
While you are up there pointing fingers, we are down here on Main Street, drowning. We are losing our jobs and our homes. Our retirement portfolios are dwindling. Those of us who are retired are seeing the money and lifestyle we expected disappear. Our educational system is pathetic and many of us are filing bankruptcy because we could not afford the insurance we needed to cover a catastrophic illness. We are still engaged in two very expensive wars.
The millionaires who got the bonuses were already millionaires. It is shameful that they took the money; however you, the Congress, supposedly passed a bill that will tax 90 percent of those bonuses. I don't think that will fly but you have done what you can, regarding the situation.
The possibly up to $500 million that was paid out in bonuses to all the bailout recipients' top guys doesn't amount to a drop in the bucket of the hundreds of billions that went out to those institutions.
We voted for change in November but I do not see that happening in Congress, rather just the opposite is happening. It is like everyone in Congress has decided to oppose anything President Obama presents. If things do not shape up in Congress and the congressional men and women don't start working together for the people and not just for their political hides, I for one will be voting for change again next time and not one of you will get my vote, Democrat or Republican. I feel those in Congress have totally forgotten what this crisis is about and who really needs the help. So stop the bickering and get to work!
