SEBRING - An alert was issued Monday for the person or persons who allegedly pulled a gun on a Highlands Home man.
At 4:30 p.m., the Sebring Police Department received a call about shots being fired at a person. The victim was located in the 800 block of Grand Avenue and told officers that he left his Highlands Home residence and was accompanied by two unknown black males to another house at 815 Martin Luther King Blvd., according to the incident report.
The victim said one of the men asked him to take a look at some tires and "20-inch rims." He took a look at them, but said he did not want to buy them just then.
Then, the person took out a pistol, pulled the upper action back like he was going to load the chamber, pointed the gun at the victim's face and pulled the trigger, the report stated. The gun did not fire, but "did eject some gas or air" on the victim's face.
The victim panicked and ran out of the garage and toward the house's front door, which was locked. He nervously fumbled with the lock before finally getting the door open and running out of the home. He told police he left both his keys and vehicle behind and headed east toward Grand Avenue before stopping and calling law enforcement.
He told police he believed the gun was real and that he saw the two men leave in a black Dodge Charger that had a Polk County license plate. A BOLO was issued and the Sebring Police Investigations Unit was notified.
SPD Officer Drew Markham took the report.
